The A. L. Willis Foundation was the launching pad for the A. L. Willis Life Center. The A. L. Willis Life Center established its tutorial program in 1999, tutoring classes began for students ages K-12 at the sanctuary site of Lily of the Valley Church of God in Christ, located at 1006 91st Avenue, Oakland, California 94603. Workshops were developed to build and enhance social skills for self-esteem, youth enrichment, and HIV/AIDS Education, Awareness and Prevention. The A. L. Willis Life Center has conducted seminars and workshops that make families the “center of our focus”, while we strive to continuously serve the community with love. We have provided classes in the following areas: financial literacy (budgeting), culinary, arts & crafts, sewing and aerobic classes . The A. L. Willis Life Center has sponsored many excursions for the youth of our local community such as: NFL, NBA, & MLB League games, Disney Ice Capade shows, Circus, Horseback Riding, Skating, and various theme parks including: Magic Mountain, Great America, and Marine World/Discovery Kingdom. On various occasions as a form of outreach we take the youth on mini field trips which include but are not limited to: Movies, Swimming, and Bowling.
